SUBANG JAYA: Mastering the English language will not make one less patriotic, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said.
“This is the reality we have to face if we want to build the nation towards becoming a developed nation.
“If we decide to learn Science and Mathematics in English, it does not mean we are less patriotic,” he said in his keynote address at the Biotechnology Forum 2011 on “Past Wisdom For Future Direction” here yesterday.
He added that the field of science, with its numerous research and inventions, produced hundreds of research papers and books which were all in English.
Dr Mahathir also said that mastering English was very important “because those who don’t understand English would lose out.”
Last year, the Government announced that it would revert the teaching medium for Science and Mathematics to Bahasa Malaysia in national schools, and Mandarin or Tamil in vernacular schools from this year.
This came about after the abolishment of the policy of teaching the two subjects in English. — Bernama

This is what we call Malaysian artist/singer/actor. They are always STUPID & MORON even if they speak in Bahasa Malaysia.
